Very happy for Don Cheadle.

He finally got this film produced after so many years. Looks like he had to add some sex and drugs, and a white lead actor, into the script, but that's hollywood.

Didn't know he'd been developing this film for awhile but it looks really good. I'm going to try and see it. Cheadle looks on fire.

I really want to see this. I love Miles Davis. I just hope that it isn't the typical musical biopic. You know the kind- a talented young musician starts small, gets big, but fame has its consequences; a drug habit starts, he/she begins to lose everything, and they either die of an overdose or turn their life around. It's been told a dozen times and it's boring. Ray, Walk the Line, the Doors, etc. At least we know he doesn't die young in a plane crash. Sorry, spoiler alert!

Anyway, this seems to have more of a story to tell. One hopes anyway!

I Clint Eastwood's "Bird" came close to your biopic formula, but thought it was a wonderful movie. Forrest Whitaker was brilliant as Charlie Parker.

6String Samurai:

From what's I've been reading in the reviews, it's not your standard tired, predictable Hollywood biopic at all. (I think it's an indie film, anyway.)Also, Miles himself was such a complicated, exasperating, infuriating, creepy and mean as hell looking with those big fish eyes, crazy-as-hell SOB, that a regular biopic would not even come close to doing him justice.

It's Miles Davis, though, the sex and drugs weren't out of place.
