This version of the movie was not that good.

It could of worked better if was 3 or 4 hours long... And the concept of the movie regarding the tape and the short flash backs were just a mess. Don just didn't get enough budget to really make this a better film. It just didn't cut for me as a huge Miles Davis fan.

I agree, it's a big disappointment. I guess it does come down to lack of budget. The whole "missing tape" storyline with the random gun-toting (wtf?) was a mind-boggling misfire. I wasn't expecting a full "biopic", but something better than this.

Even though I still think he doesn't look the part, at times Cheadle did nail Miles' voice, though. He just should've spoken less and more sparsely, like the man did.

too negative. not interest in seeing Miles do cocaine and shoot guns

I have to agree.

I loved Cheadle's performance, but the movie was severely lacking in substance.

This seems like an action film for those who either don't like or don't know Miles Davis' music. I don't mind the fictionalization, but I the fact that this is a bore is a big bummer. Don Cheadle gave a good performance, as he always does, but this film is forgettable – much like this era in Mr. Davis' career. 6/10 stars from me.
