ANOTHER POSITIVE ONE FROM THE PRODUCER

Dear all,

The below is just to follow up on various comments I have read in the last few days here.

In reply to the comments about the commerciality of a UK newspaper release, the Mail on Sunday simply bought UK dvd rights for a day. They paid a very good price for these rights - a six figure sum. This money goes to the financiers of the film, not to the producers nor to the director.

The wide publicity and advertising has led to a huge increase in interest and offers for other international rights and also offers for future UK dvd rights and we are now working on numerous dvd deals worldwide.

Lastly, the value of future TV rights for the film, as with all TV rights, are based largely on audience recognition, so in short the model has pros and cons but has worked very well for us and for the Mail on Sunday who had a great circulation (2,6 mio. - third best ever) and good feedback.

This kind of deal is not for everyone and we never thought it would be and have never claimed it would be.

Creatively, I feel Vinnie's performance was great and applaud his willingness to sometimes stretch himself by playing against type. Derek Jacobi loved the script and his performance is wonderful, based on an understanding of Charles Dickens both as a writer and performer of his own works. You guys are of course free to agree or to disagree, but we are proud of them and the movie.

To the hundreds who have contacted us since the release to say they enjoyed the movie and to congratulate us on getting a modestly budgeted indie movie out to such a huge audience, we say thanks!

To those who did not like it or feel it was over-rated, we hope you will find our future films more to your taste.

We will simply keep making the best films we can and bringing them out to audiences by traditional or innovative means whenever or however we can.

A bit pompous here - but fully intentional!
