A poor man's, white washed, Men In Black

It's as though someone said "what if Will smith was replaced by a white guy and they hunt dead people instead of silly aliens."

Yeah, sounds like a good movie... NOT.

"A poor man's", "white washed" - Sounds like a very astute review...NOT.

It's an apt description.

I don't remember any traitor like this Kevin Bacon character in MiB. Did I miss something?

reply

Because this is a poor man's MIB.

reply

Ehm...the traitor storyline is in RIPD. I wonder: Did you watch more than the trailer?

reply

Okay, it's MIB meets Ghosts meets Training Day.

reply

Good god.. just give it up.

Don't think someone knows what white washed means.

Both characters in R.I.P.D. comic were white.

The 1st and 2nd series of Men In Black comic in 1990 the characters were white. So in actuality they race swapped the character for Will Smith.

But if you wanna talk the movies.

MIB budget = 90 million
RIPD budget = 130-150 million

So not even a poor mans based on your words.

The phrase "a poor man's" has nothing to do with money invested, lmao.

reply

It's for sure derivative of men in black. It doesn't even try to hide it. Bringing race into is clearly only a thing you feel the need to mention though. Probably to stir the pot or beat the bushes looking for a person to call you out. Maybe you think the fact there isn't a black lead like MIB is some cool insight that others could become fake outraged at for perhaps a millisecond, till the next contrived controversy comes along.

This movie gets a bad rap I think. Highly enjoyable popcorn flick. I'll give it a 6.5 outta 10.

It's a western bounty hunter film. That theme has existed long before anyone put the words "Men In Black" to paper. It was just changed up to work for ghosts.
