Limited release?

I was really looking forward to seeing this movie and was surprised to find out this past week that it is a limited release- why is that so? Does anyone know when it will come to theaters nationwide? I live in Delaware and thought due to the LR I could at least see it in Philly but the closest it is playing is in Bethesda, MD or Washington, DC. Any info? Thanks!
