Didn't she fear more violence?

On top of every other demented aspect of this nutty story, how could Linda have been so sure that if she ordered the wrong Chinese take out for this deranged narcissist that he wouldn't have poisoned her tea? Or shot her. Did she think the lye throwing was a one time incident?

Maybe she didn't care? Anything to "have a man." Which was her only goal in life anyway. Incomprehensibly revolting.

Thoughts?

I got the feeling from her that she didn't care anymore. She probably thought that if he did kill her he would be putting her out of her misery.

Thank you for answering. I did think she was probably "passively" suicidal as well. She didn't care.

She was losing what little sight she had left. It was hardly just about having a man. She was 35 and hadn't been with anyone for real since Larry. She went to Europe with one eye. She took the bus to work every day with one eye, no cane, no dog.

She was incredibly strong and self-sufficient. But she absolutely did need someone. She was going completely blind. To suggest she only cared about having a man is absurd. Sure, that's how she felt when she was TWENTY-ONE (21!). But she had changed a lot.

And, no, I think she knew full well he was just a weak, pathetic man who acted like a coward out of anger. And that he wouldn't dare doing that again.

Guess who has two thumbs, speaks limited French, and hasn't cried once today? This moi.
