Couldn't Finish Watching...(possible spoilers)

...when I stopped the movie and saw Linda's last name!! Burt made my skin crawl and it literally made me feel sick when I saw his surname instead of Riss!

Can someone please explain/summarize what lead up to their reconciliation and eventual :::cringing::: marriage? I just can't bring myself to finish the film. (I watched up the part where she went to Europe and he was saved by Black Muslims during the riots at Attica)

There is no sense in nonsense, especially when the heat is hot.

Basically, she went completely blind and couldn't work, and needed someone to take care of her, and he was still more than willing to be her man. He did give her the good life, except for taking on another mistress for 5 years. The mistress claimed that he threatened to do to her what he did to Linda.

well, it's been over a year so you probably made up your mind one way or the other.

But you should finish watching.

It's interesting because what ends up happening is sad but I don't think Linda comes off like a victim.

She's living in NYC and going to work. But she's losing more and more of her vision. And she's with one man who she wants to be with but when she shows him her eyes without the sunglasses he flees, which is really sad. Basically she has nothing. And no one. And she's about to go completely blind.

Although whenever he comes up for parole she would write to them and say she didn't want him to be (he is very annoyed about this even decades later).

Crazy part is that the police officer (the female one) is the one who set it up. Linda was having friends over for wine and she was among them. And her friends were all talking about their husbands and Linda had nothing to talk about. Then in the elevator she saw an old woman completely alone and it was sad.

So, she figured Burt would be the only one who would really commit to her.

Then in the 90s he cheats on her! And the woman he cheated with accused him of making all sorts of threats when she was trying to break it off. And Linda got on the stand to defend him (he got off). And there are funny archive videos of her being interviewed and is like "what do your wives know what you are up to all the time? Don't act like this is the first affair in history."

I know it's insane. But Linda is the Linda you see through the interviews. She's funny. She has the stronger character. She never really seems like his victim.

She was just a really practical woman who didn't want to be alone in the dark for the rest of her life.

Guess who has two thumbs, speaks limited French, and hasn't cried once today? This moi.
