The most sadistic killing of an innocent character in movie history???

*Spoiler*

I am, of course, refering to Amy Smart's character. Sure...it's a horror movie and all that, but does anyone else besides me feel that her death was cruel and unwarranted? No one deserves to go out like that.

"Get your ASS over here!" - MacReady (The Thing, 1982)

reply

Yeah I agree. That was one of the most disturbing death scenes I have ever witnessed, and I watch a lot of horror.

"Military Intelligence is a contradiction in terms."- Groucho Marx

reply

I agree. No other death scene in any movie leaves me feeling quite as sick. It's especially bad, because she doesn't know what's happening to her. And it's by far the grossest thing I've ever seen in a horror movie.

"You left your kids in the car?!"
"Hello, I cracked the windows."

reply

Here late, but I see you around all the time so I figured you might get this.

Have you seen Dead Silence? Or Hostel 2? Those two have scenes that rival Amy's, in my opinion!

reply

Which scene in Dead Silence? I know I'm replying to a message to someone else but I love Dead Silence

reply

*******spoilers for those who haven't seen Dead Silence********* I'm thinking the poster is talking about his wife that gets killed in the beginning of the movie. Kind of similar with the jaw thing.
I really liked that movie too.

reply

It doesn't feel that awful to me, mostly because it's so unrealistic. Angie in the mirror tears open her jaws, and the Angie in the "real world" gets it...? I mean, this movie doesn't even make any sense. I guess when logic is thrown out the window, I have a hard time feeling anything but a sense of bemusement.

reply

Unless you're trolling then you're just an idiot. It's called suspension of disbelief, and a certain amount is required on the viewer's part when viewing certain elements in a story. Obviously the story you're watching exists in a reality that isn't bound by the same logic or laws of physics of the real world. Would you feel "bemusement" over the feat of Superman being able to defy gravity simply because you find it illogical? If so then you may be a moron.

reply

It's a horror film. They technically gave us an image we've never seen before... even if we didn't want to. And still to this day, it is disturbing as hell.

My question is what is the ghosts in the mirrors motivation when they do sh!t like that?

most definitely, she was innocent, didn't deserve that

For some reason, the glimpse of this in the Trailer bothered me more than in the actual movie. I guess it was so over the top I was more interested in the effect than in the character's demise.

Also, although she was cute, I didn't feel anything for this character to begin with.

As to her "innocence" who was killed that was "guilty" ? It's a DEMON, for ______ sake! It was after those little kids, too, and the annoying wife. And both little and old Anna! It's not enough she was schizo at the beginning, she needed to be possessed too? Or maybe "schizo" was just the bogus, sado MD's diagnosis to justify his mirror fetish?

I started watching the Korean original. It's slower paced, but the first killing is as effective, w/o as much gore.
