Misguided, over scored and boring.

I rented this without hearing anything about it so I can't say I was disapointed. I wouldn't recomend this movie to anyone. What it seems to try to do, so many other movies have already done better. Someone on here refered to it as the new Donnie Darko. Not even close. The acting was fine but it was so monotone.

There were just too many moments were they tried to make everything so significant with heavy music playing, slow panning and still shots of his face. It was too much of the same. If they had used these scenes more sparingly it would have had more of an effect. The whole movie just droned on. They never pulled me in or made me care about anyone. Chris Cline was fun to watch but was wasted, every line from Zoe Deschanel mouth was just too much. A lot of people would think the things she said but not say them. It was like her character was a parody of todays youth feeling sorry for themselves.

If you like the movie that's fine, I'm no judge for what other people like. There are a lot of movies out there though that do a much better job at what this one tried to do.

I personally liked it and found it rather effective, but I can totally understand your viewpoint. It can seem heavy-handed at times. There were some scenes where I was like "Okay! I get it! You're a misfit and view life from the sidelines! Enough!"
