Is it possible to happen?

Is the flooded scene like in the movie possible in real life, UK is flooded in tide of sea water? Has any records about flood in UK as serious as in the movie? Just curious, was thinking about traveling to UK, now have to give up the thought.

This movie is for entertaining, despite it got many negative reviews and threads. The CGI wasn't bad, at least it tried to show you the worst case scenario if flood indeed invaded UK.

Guess maybe some time maybe not in ours but the ice caps melting might cause this.
Or a massive earthquake in the Mid-Atlantic maybe flooding Iceland and parts of Europe or even if a meteor hit the water?

The flood like this is possible given enough water.
the real question is can enouh water be throw at england at any time. the answer is, we dont know. we know that the storms that we know off cant do that there, but we dont know what storms might eventually happen, just like Japan had a 8,0 eahquake tsinami protection built, and was hit by a 8,4 eathquake - the strongest wthin what was it, 100 years?

A major flood devestated the South-West of the Netherlands in 1953. Look it up on Google and there is a movie about it , the storm. Parts of the Uk where touched too. So yes it is possible but not with the current sealevel and the barriers. In the future...who knows....That said...this movie was awfull, cheap, unoriginal and incredibly boring. Disaster movies are not what the British do best.

Hurricane Sandy did a job on New York City--tide rising as well as the storm surge trying to enter the harbor which is relatively narrow; flooded the lower part of Manhattan and the underground and shorted the electrics. Certainly not to the extent of the movie, but still allot of damage. The same hurricane played havoc with the Jersey shore and took out the town of Sea Bright. As some indicate below, the right conditions could bring on something we've never had to deal with to that extent.
