WTF... OKC???

This urban legend happened in San Antonio (actually, no bus was hit and no kids were killed, the road is slanted but looks to bgo uphill which is why cars can roll "up" it when its on nuetral) so why the hell aren't they filming in San Antonio?

reply

First, it's "based" on the urban legend, which many times means there is hardly any similarity to the original source material. So, they can make the movie be placed wherever they want.

Secondly, just because it's shot in Oklahoma City, does not mean the story takes place in Oklahoma City. Many locations are adjusted to look like other cities for finiancial reasons and for convience. It's a lot easier to close down an alley in Oklahoma City, then in San Antonio, Austin, or some other city.

reply

This particular story has actually circulated all over the country, but this specific one is the one that the writers heard about in Texas. Movies are filmed all over the place because of different things different places can offer - like Guthrie happened to have a really cool looking train depot and places they could use, so they did. I doubt Oklahoma will even be mentioned in the movie, it will all appear as if it's set in Texas.

reply

Although the movie is set in a small town in Texas, the production company is from Oklahoma City. It is very easy to make Oklahoma look like Texas.

reply

Does anyone know the name of the production company thats is making it and is it going to be a Cable TV movie or a Movie Theater Movie?

reply

The production company in OKC is called Graymark Production

Do whatever it takes, by any means necessary

reply

its set in a town called "emerald". cheaper to shoot in okc though. he is right. here is the website my company fabricated for the movie (used as a prop) www.emeraldtribune.com

search anything on there, and then you will find pics of the cast used in the film.

reply

Also, it's cheaper to film the movie in OK than in Texas.

A lot of Twister was done in Oklahoma near Wakita and Ponca City and some of it was also done in Iowa. The screenwriter for this movie said they were able to get use of locations in Oklahoma and that Oklahoma was easy to deal with. And he also said that it was NOT cheaper - he said Oklahoma film crew people actually charge more than LA film crew people. I'm writing an article on this for a magazine.

reply

Oklahoma crew people do charge more, that's why they're still flying these movie crews in from L.A., but locations and things like that are a lot easier to get. And to answer the question above the production company making this movie is called GreyMark Productions. I was a Production Assistant on one their movies (Soul's Midnight) and I went to the set of this movie. A friend of mine is also acting in it (Ashley Wyatt).

reply

They are shooting for a theatrical release maybe by halloween, but I've also heard 2007. hoping to pick up a distributor...possibily new line or lions gate, which would be awesome....but those are just rumors I've heard.

ok i know its weird but i played an extra on this set b/c it was shot @ my high school & yes its in OKC but i have to tell you its was pretty neat to watch how film works. so yah OKC was a great place to set it up, its not a big deal

reply

well actually in this films case it was low budget. Most of the production assistants didnt get paid at all. They were just volunteer film students from Oklahoma city community college.
And if i am not mistaken in the movie it says it is set in Ohio. In fact I am almost positive.
I do not know a lot of the details.. just that the pa's werent paid and neither were the extras who were just random highschool students and just kids who heard about the film being shot.
And I know even the locations (at least some of them) were free.

reply

It was set up in OKC? Wow. I live not too far from there. Cool. It always surprises me when celebrities come here or people shoot a film here because I mean...Seriously, why would someone want to do anything in Oklahoma when they could pick 49 other states.

heyy, what's wrong with OKC?!?! I live in OKC!! lol. Yeahh, they shot the movie at what USE to be harding middle school, and I think now it's independence. I don't remember. but, like, they filmed it there because there are a lot of stories about ghosts at the school. soo I heard that was why they filmed it there. My friend was in extra in the movie and she said it was creepy filming there because you could hear noises sometimes. It was creepy.

yeah i was an extra in it.. and that school was freakin creepy. however, i never heard noises or anything like that.. and a few times i was there super late.
that school was actually shut down at one point because of murders or somethign? I knwo in the gym they found one girl with her back broken under the bleachers and then like in the 50's or 60's some kid was running on them and fell and broke his neck.
I mean the whole feel of the school even the outside was eerie.
From the street the school looks like an old mental institute or something

What's wrong with Oklahoma City?

Texas.. Oklahoma same thing. San Antonio is just more humid! Oh jeez what will we do without the canal..wait we've got one of those too. um.. We'll live without the small factor of humidity. No offense to those who live there.

I'm not even listening.

....... people disappoint me.

I have nothing wrong with Oklahoma City. I think its a great place but let me just tell you. The tracks look NOTHING like the ones over here. Nope. The tracks used to be wooden (like 2-3 years ago they switched it into a more modern track) which is the reason why that bus got stuck there on the first place. Where it was shot, it was so open. Over here it's a pretty narrow passage. And it curves right when you go down so... yeah. But that whole thing about the fingerprints, does anyone have enough logic to realize that those are your OWN fingerprints? You are always touching the trunk when you are grocery shopping and what not. I known that since I was like 10. :P

But on that humid thing you said.... yeah. It's pretty humid. :P

I live in OKC. Its a great place to film. You can make it look like ANYTHING you want

This urban legend takes place all over the world. I'm in Canada, and we have the same damn legend in Mississauga at a place called Magnetic Hill. People try it all the time, I doubt its ever worked.

reply

The tracks near San Antonio work.

reply

They are called a Gravity Hill. Years ago I stumbled on a website that had them listed by state. There's suppose to be one about an hour away, but I've never gone out and checked it out.
