Why wouldn't you want to be Italian?

I love being Italian and from the looks of the film, it looks like they take the good from Italian and showcase the love and passion of being Italian and just being alive, I can't wait to see this film, I am sick of the same old story you get from Hollywood, I hope it does well and show's the exec's a better way to make a film.

I'd rather be German than Italian. Luckily I am.

Nobody wants to be French though.

Both Italians and Germans kinda have a dark cloud over them though. Alot of people think of Italians and think of the Mafia, and of course with Germans they think of the Nazis. But if you ask me Germany, Italy, and of course Britian are the three best European countries.

Interesting. Although, with all due respect, the United Kingdom (Britain) is not really a European country. I know of my ancestor's homeland (am of Scottish descent here) of the UK, and no real Britons consider themself truely European, and the Commonwealth is not a member of the European Union. Ironically enough, the next door neighbour, Republic of Ireland, is European. Just wanted to state that. Although I suppose that Britons probably have much more in common with mainland Europeans and Scandanavians and the like then with any of us from the colonies of new-Europe (USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand) once one truely thinks about it. It's mainly a language (English) thing that we share.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ........................ Oh I'm sorry that was just one of the most boring posts that I have ever read. 1 word 4 letters 0 hope. Care?!?!?!?!?!

I know what you mean because Britons always like to distinguish themselves from "Europe" for a matter of old pride, but the matter of fact is they are 100% Europeans and UK is still 100% part of Europe, there's hardly any other country in Europe that is more thoroughly European as Great Britain, in historical context, culture and language.

and the Commonwealth is not a member of the European Union

No $hit, mate! But since all the states members of Commonwealth (with the exception of UK obviously) are not in Europe, that, somewhat, does not surprise me.
I think you might be confusing Europe (as continent) with European Union (as political organization) but, even so, Great Britain still plays a big part in the EEC, although it has not taken up the common Euro currency.

Jeez, who cares?! This is just guilt culture. I'm Italian and I have never had anything to do with mafia, crime organizations, you name it. I'm not responsible for what happens in the lands governed by mafia. Awareness is good, guilt is just silly.

The way i see it. There are too many movies in pop culture that deal with italian americans. A lot of it is about the mafia and other things about their culture. I personally would want to see a different ethnicity portrayed. Personally i would prefer German americans but i guess that is since i am one. But other than Italian or Irish there really arent much by means of different ethnicities other than my big fat greek wedding. It would be nice to see a change though, something other than italian americans.

The thing that makes Italian-related movies more often is the “bigger” gap between the American overall culture/style/community and the Italian-American one. This also can be applied to African-American and Jewish-American cultures.

I wonder where you live. In Italy passion and joy are very low nowadays.

Why wouldn't you want to be Italian. Best food in the world, best wine in the world, best language in the world, best soccer players in the world, coolest crime organization, only boot shaped country (kicks other countries) most beautifal island (Capri) not to mention the best olive oil, espresso, and the hottest women (if you disagree you've never been to Italy)

reply

I agree with alex8039. GO UKRAINE! My other Favourite Euro countiers are Germany and Scotland.

Why not? Let's see. Of all the nationalities in Europe Italian males stay at home with Mamma the longest - until their late 30s, the lazy bitches. Their women have the hairiest armpits, which could explain the first reason.

Best food, best wine - er, no. Best language - definitely not, unless you're camp as a row of tents. Best footballers - ha! Best prima donnas maybe, but not footballers.

Coolest crime organisation? Most of whom are goat-shagging unshaven louts doing time in jail? I don't think so.

Only boot-shaped country? Hard to see why this is a good thing or a bad thing.

Olive oil - nope. Espresso - close. Island - there are many beautiful islands in the world. Hottest women? Heh. Me thinka no-no. They're great until they're 17, and then they turn into hippos.

I short, there are too many reasons to list why I wouldn't want to be a Wop. Plus they change governments like other people have a haircut and they can never decide whose side they're on in a war.

Like France: nice country, shame about the inhabitants.

The movie sounds pretty stupid, but maybe that's just me.

Anyway, I love Italy. When I wasn't rooting for the good old USA in the Olympics, it was Italy that I wanted to win. I root for Italy in the World Cup every year, too.

I'm of Italian descent, if you didn't already figure that one out.

Just look at what Italians have accomplished in history

- Columbus discovered America to the rest of the world (I know the Indians inhabited it a long time ago, and The Vikings did a few hundred years ago).

- The best artists. Picasso, Da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, and many others. As for film as an art form. The best actors, too. Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and many many more.(I know Bobby is only 25% Italian but still) Need I really say more? Scorsese? Composers, Opera? Yes. Awesome action movie star? Sly Stallone? Yep. Food? Ah, damn straight. Woman? Ugh, debatable but up there (Brazil rivals it).

The Renaissance, discovering America, the best painters, opera singers, the best at soccer (At least one of them). Mafia movies, actors, directors, and the food? Being Italian is pretty awesome. I don't really think there's much not to like about it. Italians have accomplished a lot individually in the world. Can't study history, film, cooking, sports without touching on Italian achievements.

Don't push it. Don't push it or I'll give you a war you won't believe. Let it go.

Best food? thats a matter of personal taste. No doubt about it that italian food has alot of variety. I do think italian food is good but my personal favorite is german. I good dish of sauerbraten and a good german beer is perfect for me. And organized crime is never a good thing. Best football/ soccer, well im not into sports very much. Im more of a music/movies guy and i say i love the scorpions. Du hast isnt a bad song either. Eiffel 65 is a pretty lame band. Most of the stuff said earlier depends on personal taste.

I don't want o be English or American.
You English and American are convinced everybody wants to be like you. Not true at all.
Usually, English are hateful. USA are not mind-opened.

As you know I'm proud to be Italian, but at a second place I would like to be French, German or Austrian. Then, Scandinavian or Irish. Stop.

For your mentality it may sounds it incredible, impossible, out of rationality, false. But - wake up! - in 21 century nobody wants anymore to be American or British. Surpise!
