2 word review: Disgusting Crap !

You have some capable well known actors.
You have the theme of illusion and magic.
You have Olivia Wilde looking fine.
You have David Copperfield as guest.
You spend ...$30 mil..
...and you get what?

Where was the magic? The art? The awe?

1/3 of the movie is with Jim Carrey torturing him self. (Sorry if I spoiled the movie for you). He burns himself, he cuts himself, he drills himself, he is replacing his blood with urine.

What idiot came up with that script? (and please don't point me to imdb credits, it's a rhetorical question)
What idiot greenlighted it.

You go to a new movie about illusionists and magicians, with Carrey, Carell, Olivia, Alan Arkin. You even hear about David Copperfield teaching a few secrets to the actors.
You may think that it would be a fine movie, at least an OK movie.

When Carrey lied down on hot coils and he is starting to smell his burned flesh, people stand up and leave the theater with disgust. When I tried telling to some viewers/acquaintances that left, the rest of the movie with Carrey drilling his head and getting permanent brain damage, they beg me to stop.
Sure not anything you expect when you entering the theater.

The movie didn't succeed on make a statement on friendship (if that was the intention) and it was full of bad taste.

IMO Avoid at all costs.
or Be prepared if you want to ...taste the magic.

I loathe Jim Carey, and he still didn't manage to ruin this movie for me. I mean, he was playing basically Criss Angel, who I think it one of the biggest douchebags on the planet, and it still didn't totally ruin this movie. You just clench your teeth, shut your eyes, and wait for him to go away.

It could've been better but, I thought it was very funny; especially Carey's scenes. And I was amused that they kind of sold out at the end; it wasn't a typical ending.

I'm laughing again just remembering the gags as you've written them. Geez you actually took that "more urine than blood" line seriously??
