get real people

Man I must be freakin crazy! Are you people actually saying this movie was great?! I could go on and on about how this movie sucks. And its crazy to me people are actually comparing this movie to Dazed and Confused. Really?! Not only the sub par acting, with the exception of Shahine Ezell, the rest of them sucked. No it was not believable at all. There were numerous plot holes and things that were started and never finished. All of this made the movie sub par but what topped it off were the numerous characters that were either not needed or not explained! Who was Ponte and what at all did he have to do with the story? Come on people please tell me this is not the type of movie I have to look forward to from our youth in the future...

reply

Plot holes? You need a plot for that. And RTD didn't have much of one to begin with. It's called a day in the life of...

So the movie wasn't for you? Doesn't mean it's terrible. If other people enjoyed watching it, what's that to you? Why does everyone on IMDb with a rotten opinion of something feel the need to foist it on everyone else as if it's fact? Well, guess what, just like my friend Illiniosguy is fond of saying, your opinion is not fact.

Sorry honey, if you dont score any goals you suck, just because your mom and friends say your good doesnt mean you are. Your opinion is the movie was good, but the FACT is it sucked. And the fact that you said this movie had no plot tells me you didnt really understand the movie (no matter how much it sucked) anyway, and your just feeling a bit uneasy that I pointed out why this movie sucked and thought it was good.

reply

...which you are entitled to. Just like other people will have the exact opposite OPINION of yours.
But in no way was this movie "unbelievable". You may not know people like the ones in this movie. But for me and so many other people, it was almost like an exact flashback to summers in high school. Only the people and locations have changed.

I thought it was a really powerful and poignant film.

It's original title expressed the point of the film more eloquently.

reply

...you all are obviously the reason movies these days are horrible...I mean, can any of you that say this movie is great or powerful or however else you want to describe it just tell me one thing...WHO WAS PONTE AND WHAT WAS HIS REASONING FOR BEING IN THE MOVIE? I mean this is obviously something you all understand that is just going over my little head...

reply

Who is Ponte...

Obviously, you really don't have anything else to find wrong with the movie. Because the only thing you keep bringing up is a very minor, insignificant detail. Please, go waste time on another board.

Yes, I agree with that 100%. The original title was so much better. "Remember The Daze" is clearly a cynical direct-to-video marketing ploy meant only to associate the film with Dazed & Confused. I was in the business for 14 years. This is done routinely. It's rather sickening.

i don't know if i will be able to explain it well, but i think the movie covered alot of things in life, like relationships, friendships, love, hate, standing up for yourself and what you believe in, peer pressure etc. Everyone in the movie experienced at least one of these things, whether it was a good or bad, it had some sort of effect on them as a person. Some learned from their experineces, while others didn't appear too, but overall i think the meaning of the movie, was about becoming growing up and becoming an adult and experiencing the good the bad and the ugly in life, just all in one nite.

Firstly, this was a very well put response, unlike the others that just said I liked it so its good. I do have to disagree with you on some points though. Actors are most certainly ratable. Maybe not on Oscar level where two actors are competing for best actor. I mean hey they both obviously acted very well to get an Oscar nod. However you can say someone did a sorry job of acting while someone else did great. The actors in this movie did not do great. Secondly I never compared the two movies (Dazed and Confused and Beautiful Ordinary) I said I cant believe people are comparing the two. I can tell you, that Dazed and Confused did mention someone by name and not explain why they were in the movie. As for Imnotrussian that is not the only thing wrong with this movie I could make a laundry list of things, but that is one of the more standout items, and the fact that everyone is willing to overlook it is just crazy to me! I still havent had anyone explain it or just flat out say, "Yeah man your right the character of Ponte was pointless and absurd". Maybe then I would move on to some of the less obivous reasons this movie sucked! But we cant even get through the major stuff! The movie industry isnt what it used to be because subpar movies are called great nowadays. Deezyva out...

This movie just bothered me because it was not that real or even close depiction of highschool at all

No, well, the little things bothered me...
Like the cheerleader. I cheer, we do not wear our uniforms to school, and they aren't crop top uniforms, we don't have pep rallies on the last day of school, we don't act plain stupid.
Also, the 'hip hop' guys or whatever they were, just seemed so fake. They weren't anywhere near the real 'gangsta' or whatever kids in high school. The 'skaters' are not dressed like goody two shoes, and sure don't act the way they did in that little scene in the movie.
Some actors looked too old for their parts, and not everyone is always high and drunk 24/7. If they do like to party and get wasted, that aren't as blatant about getting weed/alcohol by screaming it and acting stupid.
Some things were real, that I could relate to like doing stupid stuff with your friends, and I have actually stolen a goose with my friends before and put it somewhere else...haha. But, that stuff was realistic.
However, some stuff was way overblown, and seemed fake to me.

I also didn't understand the pep rally on the last day of school, unless it was simply to celebrate the last day of school. And it was strange that the teachers were lecturing on the last day and the students were taking notes; usually students just have exams in highschool on half days.

I found the cheerleader interesting though because she was wearing a very modern cheerleading uniform, which actually made me happy. I've cheered competitively for 8 years and these are the styles of uniforms competitive cheerleaders wear. Usually in movies they depicted with horrible tacky old looking uniforms and oversized poms. At my highschool though, when there is a game that day or a pep rally, cheerleaders do wear their uniforms to school.

FALL BACK! This is one of the greatest movies of the past 10 years.

reply

No it's not. It's terrible.

I have to agree this is one of the worst movies I've even seen. Fell asleep at least 3 times during the first hour. Terrible acting from most of the actors. A holier than thou attitude from the main character. Terrible script was the least of this movies problems. Too cheap to get some real background music. This is more for the Christian crowd than the mainstream public. The beautiful Elizabeth Roberts is the only bright spot of this film but I hope choosing something this bad doesn't ruin her acting career.
