What state allows you to drive when your in Junior High?

Finally just watched this movie on Netflix cause I was bored tonight, but did any one notice they had Junior Higher (the new freshmen) driving? I mean I got my permit at 15 my Freshman year. I grad back in 1994 and that was pretty normal, most kids didn't get there ID until they where Sophomores. I think they kind of messed up on this.

Here in Arkansas, one can apply for a Hardship license at the age of 14 (when they can get their learner's permit). The hardship license will be granted only to those who need it to get to work and school (and have no other way of getting there). They are limited to only being able to drive to and from school/work.

(BTW it's a scary thought of a 14 year old behind the wheel lol. Not sure about other states' license laws).

In Iowa, at least in the late 1980s, you can get a learner's permit at age 14. By the time I started driver's ed I already had been driving for two years (with an adult licensed driver in the car with me).

I thought this was a little strange, too.

Different states have different rules, but I live in North Carolina (where this movie was set and filmed) and it's definitely not legal for anyone to drive before they're 15. Most people take driver's ed during their freshman year or the summer after and get their permit during sophomore year.

But maybe they just borrowed their parents car without them knowing?

She didn't have her license, she was joy riding most of the movie. In one of the beginning scenes before Julia leaves for the party. She ask Angie..."When did Holly get a license?" "Julia Shut up!"
