List ONE thing wrong with this movie.

I quite like Deck the Hall, watch it every Christmas. However I watched it this morning and I don't know ifi was particularly grumpy but the problems with the film leaped out at me.

I will start us off, and it's maybe the most obvious one...

Buddy's financial situation. Massive house... Disinterested in working... And most importantly. .. SH*T LOADS OF RUDDY LIGHTS AND CHRISTMAS STUFF ON HIS HOUSE!!! Oh and not only that, the cost of all the electricity.

Your turn..

reply

He was stealing electricity from the neighbors, remember. But I agree, I looked at the house and said, "If they're in such dire financial straits how are they living THERE?"

Renting a massive house like that? Wife doesn't work and he rarely works.

It looks like you already are. That's quite a tangent. Assuming a lot.

Only one?

Only one thing?

Well, here's one that comes to mind: The daughter meets up with sailors, and Mom is fine with that. In fact, there were many highly uncomfortable moments involving minor children that I found unfunny.

reply

Buddy's goal in life is to have his house seen from space... what an amazing premise for a film.

reply

there is no way someone who looks like Buddy would get someone as hot as Kristin Chenoweth

reply

The age disparity between them was disturbing to me. 24 years. Love Danny Devito and think he's brilliant, but casting in this respect needs to change in Hollywood because it's gross. Other than that, cute Christmas movie.

reply

Is the age gap between the actors or the characters?

reply

Characters. She stated that she got tired of dating boys so she gave in to Buddy's charms.....and that he ended up sweeping her off her feet.

reply

And was the actual age of each character mentioned?

reply

Mathew Broderick just seemed very disinterested in applying any kind of effort in his acting.
