Robin of Sherwood was still way better

Even though it's three decades old and has it's faults, Robin of Sherwood still outshines other Robin shows and had an authentic feel to the settings and Norman outfits (unlike these Normans).

Yet that show, maybe due to the era it was written in, did not touch much upon Islam(Nasir) and other issues.

Wow, it's older than I am.

I've been trying to locate Robin of Sherwood because I heard that it was one of the better depictions.

The thing I liked about Robin Hood was it was silly and for the most part they knew it - right down to the hoodies, cargo pants, and flip-flops.

Lol, yeah RoS is from 1984-6. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Robin-Sherwood-Complete-Series-Reconfiguration /dp/B00439ST3Y/ref=pd_cp_d_h__0/276-5108963-0303724

It was jovial as befitting the Hood legend, but also serious when it needed, focusing through the likes of Ray Winstone's aggressive Will Scarlett. It's production (by Goldcrest) was notoriously lavish and expensive, and the company eventually went bust.

Robin [this series] is too silly, as you said. I love comedy, but like my history fairly serious and heavy, as it was, of course.
I also think that the production here was too cheap looking and inaccurate.

It was really good, despite the mythological fantasy aspects.

The music was fabulous. I have the soundtrack.

I also have the complete series on DVD after having it on VHS first.

They really reconciled the legends by having two Robin Hoods. Both were excellent. And each fell in love with Marian, who did go live in the forest.

Mark Ryan as Nasir fought Valentine Pelka as some Islamic villain in Robin of Sherwood, then the two of them reunited on First Knight where Pelka was one of the knights of the round table and Ryan played a challenger as well as being stunt coordinator for the sword fighting.

He and Pelka also did William Tell, but did not appear in the same episodes.

I see both Ryan and Toby Stephens (Prince John) were in Black Sails. I must look that up and see if I can see it on HULU.
