Why do women fall at Robin's feet?

I just finished the show, and as a woman I'm confused.

From episode one, he is so unlikable, and somehow already he's got a little slut fondling his butt within the first five minutes. And we wonder why Marion feels like he doesn't care enough about her.

But EVERY main woman in the show - Marion, Kate, Isabella - drool like he's the one who looks like Richard Armitage, and random women are always calling him handsome as well. He acts like a child, bro-ing it up with his buddies in the woods and playing practical jokes on them to scare them. He's prideful and a glory-hogger and Marion is so right, he only cares about her when she's in imminent danger of death or when he needs her to do something. Gotta love how quickly he falls for Kate and Isabella after promising that he will always love Marion (and then tells Kate that he "just wants to forget").

Romance aside, what is there in his character to like, especially in the first two seasons? Where's his nobility? Is it possible for him to be valiant without a couple of one liners thrown in? He's just like a boy, in my opinion, and I like every single member of his band better than him.

Back to romance. Would it have killed the writers to give a different character a girl? Alan, Much, whatever. Will and Djack got kicked out after season 2 after we spent what, like 2 episodes with them actually being a couple? And John's wife left him.

He does grow up quite a bit in season 3, I'll admit, but I feel like the damage is already done by that point, and if I were Kate or Isabella even seeing him at that point wouldn't make me love him like they seem to.

I just think it's funny that all the women in the show love Robin while all the women watching it love Guy. As my friend put it, "in a world where people like Robin are held as the standard for the manliest man, it's no wonder Meg hates men until she meets a real one."

So had to let off a little steam there, but I am genuinely curious. For those of you out there who really do like Robin's character, what about it appeals to you?

Jonas is a very good actor but the BBC made great mistakes with this adaptation.
He didn't'stand a chance with Richard Armitage's much more compelling portrayal of Guy, even though he was the baddie.
Remember how Allan Rickman's Sheriff outshone Kevin Costner in Prince of thieves.

This adaptation had many flaws.

The BBC could have done a much better job with this but according to everything I heard they shillyshaddied about whether they were going to do it at all, and then when they finally decided the production team were left to do a rush Job.

I suppose as the eponymous hero Robin got the attention of the ladies. Afraid to to say he wouldn't have got mine!
