..... stupidest most racist movie with so many false facts about Arabs and Lebanese people in particular

such as...?

first: Lebanese people are not that dark, the majority of them have fair skin like European people from Italy and Spain.
second: Lebanon is not hot, it snows there actually, so the scene where the neighbors come and find the house hot and the father comments that he loves it that way implying that he is used to it in Lebanon is just stupid.
third: Lebanese people drink Turkish coffee in a very tiny cups with handles, not the coffee that is shown in the scene where the neighbors visit which belong to the Arabs of the Arabian Peninsula and Jordan

overall the movie is stupid and unrealistic. I can't believe that a 13 years old girl would be that naive that is close to mentally challenged. Also the character of the father is offensive to Arabs and stereotypical. and after watching the whole movie I still wonder what was this piece of Sh!t is trying to say?

first: the female lead character in the movie is not pure-Lebanese, only half Lebanese, so it would be unreasonable to expect her to look entirely Lebanese. and she's in America, a place where people like to tan themselves in the sun and darken their skin. even Lebanese people do that in America.

besides, do you have any idea how hard it would be to cast that role with a good actress, who doesn't mind the nature of the part, who is an adult but looks like a child? and you're worried about a couple shades of skin tone?

second: I live in a country that has snow, and I often keep my house warmer than most, because I love it that way, and I'm not even thinking of Lebanon when I set my thermostat, so I'm not buying your outrage here

third: the character Rifat has become Americanized, what with him living in America and all. there are plenty of Americanized Lebanese people who don't drink Turkish coffee. I've known several such people. I've also been given Turkish coffee by Lebanese neighbors, and they warned me about it, because even they know it is not usual for people to drink coffee like that in America

are you also upset that Rifat works at NASA, a place where people in Lebanon don't work? how many people in Lebanon fly American flags in their front yards? is that an outrage too?

since you didn't get the point of the movie, consider watching the interview portion of the DVD, in which they explain it

There is no good point. Had the characters not followed and exemplified the stereotypes the film was trying to disprove about people, maybe it would make more sense. But the films point was show that stereotypes are true and to go for pointless shock value like the book did as well. just because something is disturbing doesn't make it compelling and good. This film missed the memo.

I thought they found the house to be very cold, which is what he's used to.
