Plot Hole How?

I dont understand why people are saying the missing people reports stapled outside the rest stop was a plot hole.... How is anyone suppose to know the rest stop is the exact place there going missing?They could be getting killed anywhere in that particular state.

It's just the amount of posters implies its a very busy rest stop. Yet its desserted throughout the movie. If people are coming and looking and sticking up posters, surely they've seen the freaky guy hanging around looking sus.
