Do/did you have metal detectors at your school?

We have them at my school. They've had them for four years ever since a "race war" happened at my school. We also have bag checks as well. It's total bull especially in the winter when you have to stand outside in the snow and cold. My school also has video cameras all throughout. It just feels like jail sometimes. There was another race war this past year, and we weren't allowed to use the hall pass during class for the bathroom, and we had drug dogs and policemen everywhere. Is/was this stuff common at your school?
