Was Brandi really a Wiccan?

Just curious. I don't see anything wrong with it if she was. I've read alot about Wicca, and have known people who practice it. I seem to remember this case in the news some years ago. I just would like a little more info. I will watch this movie.

She definately said she was, and bragged about it, but I'm not sure if she ACTUALLY did it or not.

I'm sorry to say, but reading through several of your replies on this board, you just really remind me of one of the girls who would report someone like the populars in the movie.

Don't take it personal, you just talk like you know every-single-detail about what happened, which I highly doubt. :\

i went to an all girl catholic school -- we had to wear uniforms of course - but once i got home i would wear my black clothes, blackish lipstick, and black mascara - i often colored my hair diff colors as well, but the school never did bring me in for that, bc it was my freaking hair. i also played volleyball, put my hair in a ponytail and was ready to go. after i graduated i was into madonna, the clash, cars, stray cats, adam ant and many other bands; i shaved my hair on one side of my head and had it colored pink and black on diff strands.. yes ppl in my neighborhood (i live in new orleans) didn't care for it but i could careless.. i had friends who practiced wiccan - but they weren't into devil worshipping or anything like that.. they just burned their candles, bought wicca books and i didn't see a problem w/that. sad the hell they put this girl through -- i had those popular girls in highschool as well "mean girls" - most rich, but never satisfied unless they were picking on girls who didn't have much and/or who couldn't afford the name brand clothes; i had no probs w/them but had a few friends who were "tortured verbally" bc the "mean girls" didn't think they "fit" in.. it was a load of crap - and i did take up for my friends who were being picked on bc i couldn't stand there and watch it.. this was like way back naturally but its still going on everyday all over the United States.. sad that the little rich pop girls got away w/it bc most of their parents were lawyers, judges, doctors, etc.. i came from a decent background, we didn't have a lot of money but my parents did well but also was heavily into helping others in need and charities.. sorry so long.

Brandi may have experimented with the Wiccan religion. I remember that when the movie 'The Craft' came out, several girls in my sixth grade class decided to get involved in witchcraft and Wicca. I didn't have the heart to tell them that the movie did not portray Wiccans or Wicca accurately, but since they dropped this idea, I guess they found out on their own soon enough.

As for Brandi, her father denied that she was a Wiccan, and said she was Roman Catholic.

I've been catholic my whole life and i went to a catholic school for 9 years and i've never even heard of catholics doing any of that stuff except for the praying. In fact catholics are totally against worshipping idols. Maybe before you go and open your big mouth next time u should figure out what you're talking about.

Worshiping Jesus is worshiping an Idol(he was a man). Any form of worshiping anythig but "god" is idol worship. Catholic school did you good!

Buddhism has rosaries, idols, chants, prayers, everything you've listed is a part of Buddhism as well, but are used in a different manner. So is Buddhism a cult as well? By your definition it certainly is.

I'm an ex-catholic, nonchristian, but if you're going to argue about the "cult of catholicism" please spare us the superficial examples that can be applied to more religions than just christianity.

Actually, if you look up the definition of the word "cult" (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cult) then you can see that ANY organized religion can be considered a "cult". This includes Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Hindu, Wiccan, so on and so forth.

That's technically speaking, I question whether the OP was being that technical, though.
My point was to inform that Catholicism is not the only religion with very similiar practices.

Regardless of whether they were or not, I just wanted to point out that "cult" can be used to describe any religion. And you are right. Catholicism isn't the only one. As a matter of fact, many of the various religions have similar ritualistic ways. Regardless of the Gods they worship, they still practice in many of the same ways (or on the same days).

I dont think she was a wiccan, cause in the movie she was just reading a book about different religions. I did that I read up on buddhism Islam and judaism but I dont practice any of those religions. That is what the whole movie was about Brandi was misunderstood cause she dressed a certain way and was more interested in different things rather than all those other things teenagers are so concerned over. Those people who accused her of witchcraft were ignoranat scared conservative stiffs.

reply

I think that when the principle was accusing her of witchcraft he was probably thinking of the stereotypical medieval witch because the terms "witch" and "witchcraft" can different interpretations. Remember when some politics wife was called a witch on TV? My point exactly.
