Does this remind anyone else of the movie 'Boys Don't Cry'?

The Gwen Arujo story always makes me think of the story of Brandon Teena, except one is about a transmale and the other a transfemale

I've never seen Boys Dont Cry, but heard it was sad too, I hope to see it sometime. I'd like to see a transboy's struggles compared to a transgirl's.

The past doesn't exist and the future is only an illusion.

Yes. That's the one with Hillary Swank right? Was that a true story too??

reply

Yes and yes.

You're right...they're both about people living as someone of the opposite sex. Gwen wanted to go through the process of becoming a woman. I don't honestly remember if Brandon Teena was going to become a boy or not. The sad thing is that both were killed...murdered. I've seen the true story about Brandon Teena on TV (a show hosted by Bill Kurtis.) I just couldn't bring myself to see the movies made about either of them. I just now saw the true story about Gwen on the I.D. channel. It upset me because no way could a person...male or female...come out alive when 4 guys were ganging up on them. She never stood a chance. It made me so sad that I wanted to read about the movie. (Brandon Teena was shot and killed by the guys who found out he was really a girl.)

reply

yes and they're both true stories, telling how disgusting and inhuman humanity can be with how they were both murdered for being trans.
