I love this movie. I have some friends who love Hot Rod and others who hate it. I can never tell beforehand how people feel about it. So my question is what kind of people like/love this movie?

I had a friend like you once. Thought everything was stupid. Even super funny non stoner type films. He didnt like The Three Amigos! which is probably the best PG comedy of all time. Only movies he liked were psychological thrillers and horror....I felt that he was almost embarrassed to laugh out loud during a movie...It's hard to explain, but I had to stop hanging out with him, he drinks too much [and smokes weed]...I'm in recovery, never felt better!
Anyway If I am wrong about you, then forgive me. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt, but your post was just so....bad.

Yep, that would be the only way to get some humor out of this movie, non-stop. It has some stellar moments, but for most time codes, it is flat lining.

26/m married w/ kids.... Thought it was great. At times the corniness factor was a bit too high, but the funny parts way exceeded the bad parts. I liked how the film made fun of itself often which kept it very lighthearted

I'm sorry if I upset anyone, since this isn't exactly the place for this, but not everyone who smokes weed is a lazy retard who thinks everything is funny. I've smoked weed pretty much every day for the last ten years. I'm twenty-five now and I started smoking pot when I was fifteen. Since then I've graduated from high school and gotten my degree. I also run about five miles a day. Don't be so judgmental towards potheads. It's a lot better than being an alcoholic...

Dang dude. relax buddy, she wasn't coming down on you. You were just looking for someone to say something so you could get all defensive, weren't you. That's as bad as the people who attack weed smokers because you won't let others have their opinion either and free thought is one of the big things of what you're fighting for is about. She was just pointing out that you don't have to be a stoner to like this movie because that was clearly the path it was going down. I mean look at the movie in question. It comes off as a total stoner movie and in a lot of ways it is, but that doesn't mean it can't be good. She was doing a lot in support of the movie because a movie such as this can easily be labeled "stoner" and not given any respect, when in all actually it's a really good movie.

Ok that last one should make no sense, since "Hot Rod" and "Napoleon" have pretty much the same type of stupid humor. But for me, "Hot Rod" was so absurd that it was hilarious. "Napoleon" was just completely stupid and content with weak crotchshot jokes.

I definately agree with your logic and generally agree with your taste in comedies. The Naked Gun is one of my favorite ever. For me however I liked Old School and Zoolander(especially old school) way more than Borat or Tropic Thunder. I was just curious if you care'd to elaborate at all on what you didn't like about Old School. I really liked that movie and am curious.

I'm a 19 year old opera major, on deans list, who loves it, so it's not all "bathroom humor" as some like to say. It's smart, and hilarious.

But anyways, in high school on the last day of class my latin class watched it and EVERYONE loved it, including the 60-something year old teacher.
