Every Joke in this Movie is Stolen

I absolutely hate this movie. We watched it in class a few years ago and I couldn't stand it. Every singly joke was stolen from other places. They tried to pack so many jokes into this movie they just ended up stealing from other places and couldn't bother being original. Like the "wh" pronunciation was stolen from Family Guy and the part when he keeps falling down a hill has already been so overused in other movies. What bothers me is that my class actually enjoyed this movie. Please someone comment so that I know I'm not the only one that's watched this movie that's not a mindless idiot.

First I wanna say: I love this movie and I watch it very often with friends.

As far as it goes for me, I think it is supposed to be silly and mindless movie.
That is the funny part, jokes are stupid just like the characters in the movie.

And 99% of comedies are just recycling of jokes, they just change the overall setting or characters. This is true and not debatable.

I am not defending this movie, it is one of those... you like it or hate it

That's what I was about to say. What could possibly be used in Hot Rod to show in a school?

reply

Flight of the Conchords!

Wet Hot American Summer has a great 80s style montage! It's a pretty great movie all around. Fans of Hot Rod would love it.

The jokes are supposed to be recycled. That in itself is part of the gag. He (Rod) is an amateur stuntman copying stunts other stuntmen have done so why would his or his crew's jokes be unique if nothing they do is?

The OP is the only tool in the pool

The wh pronunciation was a reference to a joke on a gang starr cd.

Oh Really?

So a scene where a bunch of people are singing and going to the movie's climax that suddenly turns into a dangerous and intense riot has been done before?

I laughed for like 5 mintues the first time I saw that and had to rewind it.

PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME as to what movie that was pulled from. Please. I'm ready.
