What was its competition? Nothing?

Yeah, I'm thinking Gordy Hoffman may be friends with the writers of this movie, and selected them first prize to get them some notoriety, because this movie was a piece of garbage otherwise. Don't get me wrong, I am a teen/young adult comedy fan! However, this script should have never even cracked the top 100 list in the contest, unless it was up against (as the original poster said) nothing else. Terrible! Bluecat has just lost all credibility as a legitimate contest.

I thought that they planned doing the movie AFTER the script won.

That's what I'm talking about. Since it won the competition, it got the script some publicity and eventually sold. Then, made into the piece of crap they call a film.

Have you considered that maybe the script was butchered by the production process?
