THE ENDING spoilers, duh

Of course they are dead... this was all in the span of a few days/or weeks.. the sunflowers wouldnt have grown.. it was her dream that they grew.. in addition she had the grandmas dress on.. it was the after life.. for sure!! it was quite sweet, in a weird way.

I never thought they were dead, it was supposed to be another "miracle" because they both lacked faith. I just assumed she came back because she never pushed the TV in the water, she saw Elvis on TV before she could; but I could be wrong

reply

I don't think their dead. I think it was a miracle to and they ended up together.

They weren't dead. He stopped the process of hanging himself after he saw the sunflowers (thinking that nothing would ever grow in that field).

She saw how much he loved her after seeing him profess his love on TV (something she wanted him to do while he was in jail). She went to see him because she wanted him to know that she wanted him as well. And she found him in the field of sunflowers.

Fade to black...

reply

yeah they definitely weren't dead.. when he saw the sunflowers, he finally believed in miracles which is what annabelle always wanted him to believe in

reply

The fact that those sunflowers were fully grown, and he had never seen them before, shows that it probably wasnt real. Either that, or he literally just sat in his house for 3+ month without ever looking outside, which i doubt because there is no way they had that much food in the house.

reply

She planted them, they became friends, they ran away, they became lovers, he was thrown in jail, she left him because he wasn't honest with her.
So he's alone and depressed in the house.

Yes, that could have taken 3 months. The fact that the seeds were planted behind the house could account for him not noticing them.

So I still believe it was real.

As someone else pointed out, this movie probably took place over a 2 week period, 4 weeks tops. They were only at that beach for a couple of days, he was in jail for a few days, and she only stayed at his house for a few days. No where near 3 months, not even 2.

reply

I still don't think the ending was a dream. Movies are notorious for plot holes and time lapses.

reply

Honestly if you thought they were really dead at the end of the movie, you didn't really get the message. It's all about believing in miracles. Elvis didn't believe in miracles. Anabelle being alive again was a miracle, but he still didn't believe in them. Then when he was going to kill himself, he saw that the flowers bloomed when they said the whole movie that nothing would grow in the heat and realized that it was a miracle, thus he believed in them. Which is why he wrote "I love you Anabelle" on his house, and believed that she would see it, which she did. That was another miracle since she was about to kill herself too. So after that they found each other in the dandelions and were together in the end.

Hey I agree with you Andrear. It's Preppygrrl and Trigun that need convincing! By the way, nice job explaining it.
