I have to say, when the movie got done I felt that this was Mantegna's finest performance to date.

"My name is Paikea Apirana, and I come from a long line of chiefs stretching all the way back to the Whale Rider."

He is a fine actor with an incredible list of films. Check out his complete performances on IMDB.

just saw this movie last night and Mantegna knocked it out of the park... surprisingly good film I somehow missed from 2007. Glad I finally caught up with it as it is a very moving character study featuring a great cast and a touching story.

Generally, if Joe Mantegna is in it, I'll watch it. He generally doesn't do crap movies, and he is a remarkably fine actor, always a pleasure to watch.

If you haven't seen him in "House of Games," you are in for a real treat. It's seldom shown, but is something that should be far better known.

It also has a minor role for Ricky Jay, probably the finest card manipulater on the planet. If you ever have a chance to see him with a deck of cards, don't miss it. But don't ever play for money with him.

I knew i recognised him but i couldn't work out from where!

Just goes to show that you may think an actor bad, but they might just not have found the right role to shine.

House of Games is one of Mamet's best and Joe is awesome in it as usual.

Montegna was great.

I enjoyed the 2 leads...
and the relationship between Montegna and son...
