Film includes valuable lesson about cell phone etiquette (spoiler)
It peeved me when Amin answered his phone during the ceremony. That's just rude, and since the call was from an unknown number, it couldn't be defended on the grounds that he always answers calls from X person or whatever justification people use. He didn't know who it was and answered it anyway.
And if all he was going to say, even if it was his wife calling, was, "I can't talk right now, I'll call you back," why not just let it go to voice mail (assuming he even leaves the phone on, which he shouldn't)?
Actually answering it did nothing more than that AND look what he's left with--the memory of brushing his wife off when she reaches out to him as she's being instructed on how to operate a suicide bomb. He'll have that "what if?" for the rest of his life. A much longer life than the people who were in the cafe with his wife.
On the other hand, if he had been a polite cell phone user, he would be saying, "Why did she call when she knew I was at the ceremony and wouldn't be able to answer?" Doesn't change the result, but would leave him feeling less culpable.
