Why Lebanon didn't submit it as their Best Foreign Language Film entry?

After all the reception in San Sebastian was good and the subject is interesting...

I have no idea the Oscars are stupid and so are countries with submitting films for the Oscars. This film was amazing but not as amazing as Amour or The Hunt

The movie was banned in lebanon for some stupid political reasons, and the lebanese government refused to submit the movie to the oscars. I guess good work is credited by people regardless if they won an oscar or not. one of the best movies that have discussed the Israeli Palestinian conflict.... ZIAD DOUEIRI respect

The film was banned in Lebanon on the request of the Arab League because part of it was filmed in Tel Aviv, Israel.

We saw an interview with the director last night. He said that the film is banned in Lebanon. He may also have serious problems because he is subject to a term in prison just for having traveled to Israel.

His wife was even threatened with arrest if she hosted a private screening of it for her friends in her own house!
