One of the best and most harrowing films I've seen all year

(and that I will see all year).

Who agrees?

I don't think you'll be disappointed and I hope you'll see it in the theater. This director should be financially rewarded for his courage and his talent, as should his lead actors and others associated with this fine production.

By far the best movie I've seen this year and I doubt there will be a better movie this year.

reply

Agreed. Just left the theater. Should be required viewing in schools.

I agree. There is so much to praise about this film I hardly know where to begin. The acting, editing score are all excellent. Mostly, however, it is the deep, nuanced ambiguity of the story and characters which got me. A solid 'A'.

Dreadful.

The protagonist's actions never seemed believable...at any point. The movie's message was muddled at best, repugnant at worst.

Much better films on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict:

Paradise Now
The Lemon Tree
Ajami
(The Other Son is supposed to be good, but I haven't seen it yet)

Better films on the Arab-Israeli conflict in general:

Incendies
Waltz With Bashir
The Syrian Bride

Thanks for suggesting those titles. I will see if our local Library has them .. If not Netflix?

There's also a good drama called BETHLEHEM (2013)----about the relationship bwt an Israeli Arab agent and the Palestinian teen he pays to spy on terror groups for him. And,yeah, THE ATTACK is good, and pretty sad, too.

reply

Almost the end of November, and THE ATTACK is still the best film I've seen all year.
