Why do studios release bad atempts at salvaging films.

Clearly this was hacked up.

There was more to be had but in order to make back the money over spent on this they relased this film.

Waste of time as it just made no logical sense. Out of place scenes with non sensical subtitles.

I loved the photography and martial arts. Both were flawless.

Shame just a real shame.

No, it wasn't hacked up, its a finished product. What they did was they shot the fighting, and made a big editing line of it, and made a story around it... which explains why no jaa film has a story

hi, my name is Crowded, and im a Linux.

I agree. Bad movie. Good photography, minus the slo mo and blurry shots here and there, and great fight scenes, but nothing more. Good costumes and locations though.

Actually, Tony Jaa who was doing everything on the movie had a breakdown halfway through filming and sodded off. He did come back, but the end result is a disjointed film.

from wiki: "production still encountered financial problems as it came to a close. In order to complete the production on time, the filmmakers decided to end Ong Bak 2 with a cliffhanger ending, and then continue the story in a sequel"

So, they ran out of money, and had to end it somehow. I personally liked the movie, yes, there are loose ends, but have you seen his other movies? This one is far better, even with the cliffhanger ending.

The real question is not whether you have seen other Jaa movies, but if you have seen other martial arts movies? Complaining about plot? That makes sense. The film makes sense if looked at as a character study and as the 1st part of a larger story. The only thing that doesn't make sense is the title. But I think that would have been explained if it had been longer. Plus, the fight scenes, especially the climax, are jaw-dropping. What more could you ask for?

As I said, Jaa had a nervous break down and ran off into the jungle. The reason they ran out of money was down to Jaa taking ages to do anything. He literally feared for his life as rumours were the studio hired unsavoury types to force him to finish the movie. He went to a monastry and became a monk for a while as a result. The agreement he reached with the studio was that he would make a sequel so that they could recoup some of their losses, Ong Bak 2 was never meant to end that way.

I just watched the movie (subtitled version) on my Kindle Fire and found it very understandable. The subtitles were great, so there must be more than 1 subtitled version.

I also found the movie very good until the strange ending, but as I understand Ong Bak 3 is a sequel which (hopefully) resolves things.

Someone else mentioned what made no sense was calling this movie Ong Bak 2. Totally agree with that, as it had zilch to do with Ong Bak 1, unless the Tony Jaa character in OB1 is supposed to be descended from the guy in OB2 somehow, but they never alluded to that that I caught.

I really liked the movie, it was nicely shot, pretty good plot, just a frustrating ending.

I know what you mean with some of the subtitles, i put that down to a mix up in translation though.

I actually loved this movie. I've seen my fair share of MA films over the past 20 years. This one had me at the edge of my seat. And the story was far better (even if weak) than most MA films. I don't get why so many people are bashing it here. We need MORE movies like THIS. Not that Ninja Assassin crap.

I thought Ong Bak 2 was an ok movie. The first one was much better. If there's anyone who going to hit it big in the martial arts world then it's Scott Adkins. Cant wait until Undisputed 3 comes out.

Wait wait so there is a difference in the subtitles between the Blu-Ray and the DVD? Are you kidding me?! Can anyone else confirm this, as I was going to rent this movie in the coming days and I refuse to watch it dubbed because I can't stand that format or else I would have already ordered it on the VOD but they don't give the option and I made the mistake of ordering JCVD and it was dubbed :( I really don't want the BR subtitles to be completely incoherent and disappointing like how dubbing is because I would obviously much prefer to watch it on BR.
