Horrible, Very Horrible

I have watched ong bak and tom yam goong and loved them both. the story in those movies were VERY simple and action made up for it. the problem in this movie is that the action was just OK and the story was butchered and felt re used.

i dont know how many of you watched seven swords with donnie yen, but this film seemed to take alot from it when it comes to his partners. just looking at the guy (dont know his name but from ong bak 2) that resembles the swordsman (from seven swords that was raised by wolves) anoyed me. The villians were not that great. i actually laughed when he had to fight the old lady under ground or where ever she was. Bad sound effects for her and veryyyy cheesy aswell. Maybe if i was still 13 i would have enjoyed this, but the action is focused on PURE AWSUMNESS of how a hit was performed but gave a teddy bear as the object being hit. the story again was just butchered and did not flow well nor did not leave me with any emotional up lifting (similar to what you get by the end of ip man or ip man 2 or ANY good martial arts film).

i am of thai decent so i had no problem understanding but it felt like the writer was some ordinary uneducated citizen who tried to pitch but probrably pitched underhand to let the also uneducated director catch. ANYWHO this movie was Horrible, so horrible that i refuse to watch ong bak 3. and sadly i have ong bak 2 on blu ray. funny incident though is i also just finished watching true legends with jay chou, and that movie was equally as bad since it was all action, crap story, and seemed like it was winged. the funny thing in that movie however is the director should of had better judgement. 0/10 for ong bak 2.

if you honestly rate this movie 0/10 there's something wrong with you.

it isn't my favourite martial arts film ever, i much preferred ong bak 1 and warrior king as well but there is some very nice fight scenes in this movie (particularly the drunken fighting scene).

the story isn't as awful as you make out, though i did think how it was put together was confusing and its pacing was kind of off but this was tony jaa's directorial debut so you have to give him some credit.

the thing's that anoyed me most were some of the corny 'animal' people and their effects/noises like the crow woman who rode off on his elephant and the cat one in the cave during his tests.

also thought it was lame how the primary 'baddies' in this one are left alive. the ending just didn't feel like an ending, i was like "is that it?" but another user on here commented that there was some problems behind the scenes that effected the end film.

definately a strong 5/6 out of 10. ong bak and tom yum goong being 8's.

lol, that 'crow woman' is a bloke, hes the main baddie in ong bak 3

"just looking at the guy (dont know his name but from ong bak 2) that resembles the swordsman (from seven swords that was raised by wolves) anoyed me"

I thought it was the same guy, and he was put in as the same character, Charlie Chaplin style (whilst he didn't necessarily play the same person, he played the same character).

reply

Nope, not the same guy... it just goes to show some recycling may have happened.

for your information this "historical-epic" martial art movie genre is not very well known internationally, so i think this is a nice attempt at exporting something different & more ...authentic & rootsy...

u say it took alot from seven swords... well seven swords took a lot from the seven samurais, so what ?

the problem of this film is that people are dumb sheeps who want what they expect, and u were expecting another urban contemporary thai boxing flick, but ur bowl stayed empty...

this movie was real atmospheric , powerful & the story, a classic tale of paternal betrayal even if not very surprising , still was moving & a good base for all the action... young generation's problem is it cant identify itself to anything other than superhero, vampires or geeks with guns, it's cuz of ppl like u that T.Jaa is taking a break from movies , & i respect him for that.
I hope he'll b back soon with fresh ideas & more stuff.
Don't forget that before him there was 0 thai movie that made it internationally (or maybe som boring geisha-based pseudo intellectual crap)... u should show more support & better criticism... i mean the life of the villagers, the critic of the imperialism, the rise from slavery to high-grade officer only to realize he's been enslaved all along & the final fight for freedom, which is like one of the longer i'v ever seen, it's all fresh, powerful & clever... maybe smoke som weed, hav a cleanse diet & watch it again with a mind free of preconceptions & expectations...

ip-man emotional uplifting : rofl (boo my friend is dead, let's take revenge on the mean occidental or japanese invader & show dem what a tru man is)

I agree with ganesheeva.

It was a refreshing change of scenery and alot more originality than Ong Bak or Warrior King.

Ninja-Pirates... how can you complain?

reply

Very horrible indeed, I saw Ong Bak 3 hoping it will redeem the crapiness of this, oh my god, Why...just why Tony why would you make this, why is this piece of crap made.

reply

0/10? What the hell are you talking about? Because you haven't justified that score in your post.

VERY horrible? Then my friend you go out and rent Mona Lisa Smile and enjoy yourself, you moron

reply

Horrible? HAHAHAHAHAHA really? what the *beep* is wrong with people?

reply

hey, what's wrong with Mona Lisa Smile? and why do you think if you dislike Ong Bak, you'll enjoy Mona Lisa Smile?

I loved Ong Bak 1,2 AND 3 (don't see why so much hating on this one, yes, not as great as the first two, but still, a not bad action movie imo, well, the fight scenes are great - story not so much) and also love Mona Lisa Smile, so don't think your theory works lol

Scar Jokes, u didn't like my joke. Why not call me a cnt, but call me a fake on Y!A?!!
