Soviet Prison Camps

I have read several books on the treatment of German POW's in these camps. I have also known German WWII vets, some of whom were interned in Soviet camps and lucky enough to be released.
I gotta tell you, after seeing this movie, the accounts I've read about and been told about must have been lies(sarcasm). I mean, food, concerts, all the women you want and freedom of movement, wow, what a workers paradise.

I guess you cant read every book in the world or speak to every Ex German POW. Do you realise there were many camps all over the USSR after WW2 and while a huge number would probably not be everyones choice for a holiday there were some that were not run with the sole purpose of killing the POW´S. Sure they were not a summer holiday camp but some did allow activities.

Do a little bit more research.

Yes I agree it's too difficult to generalize. I imagine the movie depicted things as better than they really were, but not all German POWs died miserable deaths in camps (otherwise tens of thousands of them wouldn't have survived).

Compared to German camps for Russians these were indeed a paradise on earth.
