Ok, why do people hate this movie?

Before I saw this movie, I read nothing but bad reviews about it. They all say that only kids will like it and adults will just end up yawning. Well I rented the movie and as an adult, I thought this was a great family movie. It's good for BOTH kids and adults. I found the plot very interesting and the acting was very good.

So, tell me. Why exactly do people hate this movie?

reply

I really enjoyed the movie and I'm not a kid. I dont understand why it got so many bad reviews.

I'm glad I'm not the only adult that enjoyed this movie. Heck, it even had a couple of adult oriented jokes in it. Most family movies have a cheesy plot and bad acting. I was expecting this movie to be like those typical family movies because of the reviews I read, but it wasn't. While the plot can be a little on the cheesy side, it was pulled off very well. The good acting and humor in the movie tends to distract you from the plot and you end up enjoying the film because of that. Plus is sends out a good message too. And the acting was very good too. Emma Roberts and Jake Austin give excellent performances. And not to mention Lisa Kudrow. She was downright hilarious!

I don't understand either. I liked it, it had an uplifting message and the characters, while created in movie shorthand, were given enough to do that they felt somewhat grounded in reality. I give it a 6. I don't get the massive number of 1's. Did some rabid animal rights organization go out and vote in force, or what?

reply

I liked it a lot too. Jake T. Austin and Emma Roberts were great I think.
I bet the reason everyone hates it is because it's a Disney movie. That's the reason I almost didn't watch it. :)

Never worry about being fair. Just grab onto those jewels and twist them like a garbage bag.

first off, i thought it was a Paramount/Nickelodeon movie. secondly, i am a young adult, and i do have to say that i thought was a good movie too. however, there was only one thing i didn't like about it though: the dogcatchers, especially the dogcatcher who kept taking Friday, the main characters' dog, i think he was a real d--khead. i was happy when he got his groin kicked in the movie. btw, sorry for the language.

Positive movies are not "IN" these days. And that is a shame.

I'm an adult, more or less, and I loved this film. It helps that I'm a dog lover, of course, but this had a decent script, strong performances by humans and canines, and extremely clever gadgets and direction. I suspect most of the people voting 1 on this have never seen it. Apparently it's hip to knock something family-friendly. 8 stars out of 10.

I saw the movie this night. I was touched, is was funny and it was amusing.
After watching the movie I was in a happy state.

I think it is also well made. Really beautiful camera-work and color. Simple but beautiful.

I love it.

It might be vacuous, but it's cute. I watched it with my nephews and they loved it. I kinda liked it too.

If you buy a ticket for a remake, you are the problem, not Hollywood.
