Worst Movie Ever.....

I normally don't want to flame on a movie, but I hated every second of this movie. I love musicals and there was nothing wrong with the subject matter. Even the story could have been decent, but my problem was with the acting. It was so horrible it was distracting. I almost couldn't finish watching this movie because the longer I watched, the less interested and more apathetic I became. The singing was awful, there was no emotion, and anything they did was way over acted. I know a lot of people will disagree with me, but just because a movie is "independent" it is not automatically "good".

I loved this film and not simply because it was "independent." I agree that not all of the singers were very good (though I'd say some were), but that just added to the intrigue for me. It didn't seem unintentional, because it made the film feel exactly like being around a group of normal kids who happened to be singing. (I know that was a bizarre sentence, but work with me here.)

I just watched this for the first time, and I loved it! It had the charm of "Open House," which I also loved. I think that sometimes you need to watch musicals differently than you would other genres-- even bad singers can move you, and sometimes the oddball voice can be so emotional (I am thinking about Ellen Green in "Little Shop of Horrors"). I don't know exactly why, but I found this movie to be so touching, but refreshingly smart. It worked for me.

You became more apathetic? I'm not sure that's what you mean, but do you know what you mean? : )

I know the acting was just plain and the comic beats were unusual in some spots, but it I wouldn't say it was bad.

I too hated it. Sundance Channel - thanks, no thanks.

just saw it on the sundance channel. It was a pleasant surprise. The acting wasn't bad, the gay dude was the best actor of the bunch and the chic was the best singer, but overall it was decent for what it was. I'm probably going to try and buy this one.

Agreed. Terrible singing, but very unique. Especially because i've lived in the bay area my whole life, so i know the actual colma area well. Plus it's a pretty funny movie. A few moments had me laughing so hard I thought i'd cry. A very great rip on stupid hipster kids from San Fran who think they're better than you. Worth watching if nothing else than for some of the dark comedy...

I loved the film but from the beginning to the end, I HATED the voices of the lead male characters. But the lead actress had a great voice in my opinion. I actually liked the acting as well. It all seemed natural for me. Besides having annoying vocals, the lead male actors were charming in their own ways. The lack of talent in their voices actually made me like them more because they seemed like real people who don't have AMAZING voices. It's just a really fun movie!

I agree with you there slashy, the singing was just plain terrible, from all the actors. As much as I tried to get involved, the bad acting, and bad script, that tried to be way too smart and ended up way too smug, just kept taking me out of even trying to enjoy it the few chuckles that I had. There was one interesting shot that went on for maybe 15 minutes that was well choreographed, and some of the outdoor cinematography was great, but beyond that, the film doesn't offer anything worth giving a hoot about. Maybe if I had grown up in the bay area, I would get all the inside jokes, but as the film stands, it's a very alienating film that ends up, like it's main characters, overly pretentious.

ta-TA-TUH.... Dude I've most likely been watching movies twice as long as you've been alive. I just found
this little gem on IFC (not may channel of choice and it now my favorite movie. Why? In part because they are not acting - they are conversing/talking. And - if you want emotional singing go to a karaoke bar or just keep watching American (hurl) Idol.

At least you watched it all the way through. If you want a worst film ever, try Emanon. With a hyperbolic statement like worst ever you lose all credibility. Of course you probably lose that when you say it's your favorite film ever, huh....
