Why all that melodramatic?

Come on, people! Why must Angel suffer that much? She just did entertaining literatur. Is that so bad? Not even artists that sell off to the nazism or to any else authoritarian powers had so a painful fate. So what is all about? Can't an woman be independent and pursue her dreams? I have to say I was very related to Angel's characther, and that I don't understand all the drama. I don't understand even if Angel's life was so bad, I think she had an wonderful life. Too much ambiguities for a movie.

Well we all can relate to Angel in a sense but what makes her so hedonistic (in a way) is her complete lack of reality and what is going on. In her mind everything is exactly as she sees it and that isn't possible.

I loved her character its very complex yet she refuses to bow down and make you feel sorry for her.
