Canasta Card Room Place

Does anyone know what that canasta card room place was about? It looked like a public fancy salon or club, but there was only two rooms, the room with the bar and the card room. But there were never many people there. Definitely didn't seem to be enough to support a bartender.

What was that place?

Great question. It wasn't explained. But we got a quick look at the place at one point and I could have sworn that the building had a US and a Greek flag at the front, which would indicate that it was some sort of embassy or service organization. But it was a little strange.

I don't know whta flag that was but it was not Greek

I believe it was meant to be the Sulgrave Club - a woman's only private member club in Washington DC. However, all interior scenes for the movie were filmed in the UK - see below for more info

Thanks for the tip, alexkalim. The article was very insightful.

I love how you can tell the possible locations of the card room by these exterior shots of the Sulgrave Club. The rounded wall is a dead giveaway.

I think the real estate expenses would be way more than salary of bartender.

reply

No doubt. A bartender's salary, even if he was paid a lot, would be piddling compared to the property or other stuff owned by those ladies.
