I don't understand why..

Why is it SO difficult to get a military movie even slightly correct? Some of the stuff was covered in the Goofs, but GD a Major General wearing his cover inside? It's like they say "Eff it! We'll slap some awards on a dress uniform, salute from the middle of the forehead, and call it a day!" Yeah, I know, nitpicky.. but it's not like it's that hard to get right.
