So they take an SR-71 Blackbird... (Spoilers)
...and then abandon it? WTF!? Totally unrealistic. Oh yeah, the movie sucked.

Plus I don't think he could fit in the cockpit.
The Doctor never loses.
I thought they left it an airfield and got on antoher plane.
shareLOL! Yeah, Steven has been putting on a lot of weight...
Well, I don't think you'd abandon an SR-71 Blackbird anywhere for another airplane no matter what. The SR-71 was a high-tech plane and still is. Why allow other nations to examine your military secrets? I know this movie was crap and unrealistic but stuff like this still bugs me...

Helmets and flight suits are wrong. Pilot and backseater wore orange pressure suits very similar (maybe identical) to what space shuttle crew wear on liftoff and reentry. SR-71, even when they were in service, would not have been used, pilots and planes were too valuable. Far more likely would have been a pair of F-15s. Given the creative bending of reality, I actually expected F-22 for this detail.
shareHere is some info on the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird.

I have seen the one at the museum in Dayton Ohio.
I too thought it was odd for them to use this plane in the film.
