i hate fred durst.

i don't care if this movie is the next 'citizen kane' (which it won't be.); i hate fred durst. i will never see one single movie he makes. just like i'd never buy one single album he makes. call me a hater, whatever. i cannot stand this man, his music, his face, his band's name and his name. i am in total shock someone even let this man behind a camera. but, good for him. i will just avoid it like the plague...

reply

Yawn. Heard it all before. Looks like a great movie. Doing very well at festivals. Excellent cast. Couldn't care less who was behind the camera.

reply

good for you. as i said, good for him. but, history has shown that people care very much who is behind the camera (just watch aintitcool.com when a brett ratner film is announced). and the reason you've heard it all before is that it's true, he sucks. not only is his music terrible, but he's a bizarre stalker who shouts to the world if he's even made eye contact with some famous actress. and, have you seen that youtube video of him getting his portrait done to quote, 'keep him humble.'? he's a total doosh...

reply

So what? You really missed the point of I don't care, didn't you? Listen, NOTHING you can say will deter me from seeing this film. So you just keep "shouting to the world" about how awful Fred is. Your words are falling on deaf ears.

I gotta agree with JackStallion, Fred Durst is probably the most famous talentless moron ever. After all, his best friend was Pauly Shore, another pathetic boob. "I did it for the nookie, so you can take that cookie and stick it up your ..." I have a 3-year-old niece who could have written a more intelligent song than that (and her vocabulary consists of about 200 words). Stick to your guns Jack, I wouldnt ever buy, or see, or hear anything that has any association at all with with Fred Durst.

And we're supposed to care because...?

As much as I'm not a fan of Limp Bizkit, Durst's cameo in the season finale of House was great, and he's a pretty smooth director. Not a whole lot of flair, but he's got a good film career ahead of him, to be certain.

I'm sorry Jack, but it has got to be the saddest thing when people base whether they see a film on their opinions of the people who are involved with it. You've never see Durst direct a film before, so anything you think about him is entirely irrelevant and you simply come across as a child.

how can you say someone has no talent and is a moron when he gets paid to make movies, write songs and sing in front of thousands?? jeez i wish i was as so called untalented as him

great lil movie and as ryan says his cameo in House was great. keep up the good work fred but just remember we are still waiting for another album..well some of us are

reply

I really want to agree with you here, but I can't. I can't stand Limp Bizkit's clunky, uninspired music. And I hate frontmant Durst's junior high lyrics and boneheaded media persona even more, but . . .

He actually did do a great job in Population 436, enough of one to make me almost forget that I was watching Fred Durst. One thing that I have noticed about him is that he seems ridiculously ambitious. Maybe as time has gone by and he's grown older his cockiness and overzealousness have started to mellow into a more mature passion, even though it's hard for me to imagine. I won't go out of my way to see this, nor will I go out of my way to avoid it. It may just be that film making focuses and utilizes his energy far better than music ever did.

That being said, yes, I've always wanted to personally congratulate and shake hands with that guy that was arrested for throwing a pie in Durst's face at a public guitar tryout.

I have to say that I am not a fan of Durst, I think he's a talentless hack when it comes to music, who made it big by following in someone else's shadow (ahem, Korn). And someone said that how can someone get paid to perform if they're horrible, because people like crap. Why do the people making the [Insert Genre Here] Movie franchise keep making movies? Because people like crap!

But, when it comes to a different medium I believe that you have to give someone a chance prior to calling them a talentless hack in that arena. I liked Durst's work on music videos (he directed the amazing Falling Away From Me Korn video), and would hope that he would be good in movies. (I say hope because 1) we don't need any more bad directors making crappy movies and 2) I'm hoping it'll keep him from making anymore music!)

...to keep him from making anymore music. LOL! Yep, that should be a good enough reason for some people to hope he finds his way as a movie director. I think the ship has sailed on his genre of music anyway. And it's not like he's gonna become a balladeer. I think his musical days are over either way. That said, I have high hopes for this movie because of it's incredibly talented young cast.

At first Limp Bizkit was just an annoyance at and then I saw a documentary on MTV about an "impromptu" rooftop concert (a la The streets have no name) the only problem was that the law enforcement and popular radio stations in the area all knew about it before hand. Lame. Also they showed one of the band members who said (paraphrased)'Well playing music is cool and the fans are great but it's really all about the money' and I just have a general frustration with alot of the music acts of today (just like a fogey) but Rob Zombie put out a gorgeous movie in The Devils Rejects and when that came out it was a big middle finger to all the naysayers and narrow minded critics who think a rock star can't make a decent movie. So despite my detest for Fred Durst perhaps he will do well in the movie making business perhaps this format is more appropriate then music.

reply

i hate him too, because he ruined rock.

reply

Yeah, all of rock completely sucks now because of one guy who hasn't even made a record in years. Get real.

No, Fred Durst didn't ruin rock, Nirvana did. That's when the true art of guitar playing died: when a decent poet decided to write songs on guitar despite the fact that he could hardly play, and all the simpletons with less talent followed him. Luckily shredders are finally making a comeback after the abyssmal 90's lack thereof.

I guess you don't like punk rock, and you like this kind of virtuoso music.

Were you referring to me? Because your comment doesn't make since if you're commenting on my last comment.

reply

He's not an actor in this movie, no. But he is getting into acting. He's done a role on House and he's working on a movie right now, I think.

ever heard of giving someone a second chance?
yes, his music was awful. that was years ago. move on. he's a nice guy now, who wants to pursue a directing career. and from the looks of it, he isn't half bad.

reply

For someone that wants to avoid fred durst so much, you really go out of your way to bash him. On top of that, you gave not one reason why you hate him, you just do.

reply

you sir! Are a scholar and a saint. bless you man. preach on.

reply

I hear ya. Give the guy a chance. Movie looks pretty damn good.
