Why did Ina shut down Barefoot Contessa?

From the way she talks it was so successful and I imagine her friends used her frequently for events. So what happened?

Because she was working very long hours at the shop and wanted a break. She was asked to write a cookery book too.

It's my understanding that she sold the store to employees before the show started...before she wrote her first cookbook. She just got tired of working 7 days a week 14 plus hour days.

Bad publicity for turning down a poor kid with cancer. I think she is a self-centered jerk.

I just passed her show on television and felt contempt for this self-centered cold-pressed sow. "Oh, sorry I don't have time to waste in MY wonderful life to make a dying child's last request come true. What am I The Easter Bunny or something?" They should have removed her from ALL networks instantly

I just read about that on Cracked. Unreal. And then when everyone found out she calls him to try to cover it up and he turns her down! Hilarious.

What we got here is... failure to communicate!

I would guess because of her laziness! If you will notice, she tries to cut corners on everything she does. She really disses anything that is time-consuming or involves work!

reply

You're an idiot. She does not cut corners. Try cooking a few of her recipes and come back and tell us if they are a bit more time consuming than the fried bologna and head cheese that you usually eat.

 The bad news is you have houseguests. There is no good news. 

ohh, fried bologna and head cheese that the other poster eats, huh? Is that some lame attempt to make the poster lower that thou? Oh, you're a very nasty and very ugly person for saying THAT to someone you have no idea about. What are you, a blind ass-kissing fool?

reply

TROLL.

How convenient. Just come here and call the logical one a "troll", feel superior and leave, huh? Is that the way you live your life in real life. Anyone who disagrees with you is a troll? Good lluck with that.

I thought you wee simply trying to spell "Phoenix" and were too uneducated to do it.

Again, Kompressor Fan, you are the voice of the righteous! People who cut corners don't use homemade stocks, which take many hours to simmer. She does much of her prep of basic items off-camera, since a 30 minute slot (about 20 minutes with all those stupid ads) would not permit her to illustrate how many hours so many basic preparations can take. Ina's recipes mainly fall in at least the intermediate category for difficulty.

Ina sold her business long before the controversy over the Make-A-Wish request. She grew tired of the long hours a successful catering business entails. Two of her former employees purchased the business and kept it going for another eight years. Ina still has an online retail presence, in addition to her successful cookbooks. You trolls really need to do some research before casting aspersions upon a philanthropic, good soul. Ina's staff refused young Enzo's request long before she learned about it. When she did hear about it, she immediately redressed the mistake. If you don't want to trust me, then listen to Enzo's own family:

"I had written about our disappointment when we originally found out, but asked everyone in the spirit of Enzo to please just 'let it go' and move forward... I want to make it VERY CLEAR we have NO ANGER OR ILL WILL toward Ina Garten... Enzo found great comfort in watching her cook when he was going through his toughest times and for that we are so grateful."

But as trolls never let the facts get in the way of a pointless attack, have at it.
