I Would NEVER Make Any Of Her Recipies

She made me SO mad watching her the other day
as a Greek, spanakopita is one of my favorite foods in the world and I saw her make it.... she mispronounced EVERYTHING and completely botched the recipie... plus she called it Spinach Strudel.... me and my fellow Greeks were laughing at her
she completely botched Pesto too (Mayo!? WTF) and I'm not Italian but that made me so mad... how on earth can that taste good?
plus her food is SO bad for you

She may not pronounce everything right and add weird things to her recipes but let me tell you, this woman knows how to cook. I've mad many of her recipes and they came out awesome.

Anything tastes good when you add half-a-pound of butter, double cream, a tablespoon of salt and the rest. She keeps saying "It sounds like a lot but it's got to feed a lot of people", then about three pretendy-friends turn up for lunch.

Tis true but I must admit she's gotten a lot better with that.

I watched an episode of the Italian meal she cooked for a couple of producer friends of hers and made everything for dinner last Sunday. It's a healthy meal that my family really enjoyed!

that made my day. word, she has these terrible actors for friends 'Oh Ina, you've out done yourself' either they're just hired for the show or their some f ucked up friends using her for her cooking skills.

I have to speculate that God did make us into corresponding shapes like puzzle pieces from the clay

I agree - I've made many of her recipes and they are always well received by my family and friends. Her "Barefoot Contessa" & "Parties" books of mine look like they've been through a food hurricane I've used them so many times.

Maybe you wouldn't make anything she makes because she would spell it "recipes".
Different regions pronounce things in many different ways: "tomato", "paella", etc. Don't dis Ina for pronouncing it the way her area of the world pronounces it! and anyway, what does that have to do with the way it TASTES? Itr's a cookijng show, not a dialect show!

reply

lol a dialect show

Haha funniest thread ever.

She can be a bit excessive with the more fattening ingredients, but I've seen her cook healthy foods too.
And she's often a pleasure to watch in the kitchen, especially now that she smiles a lot more often. She was looking quite sad a lot, and many have mentioned it.....it makes me wonder if the writers/producers of the show noticed it too or even got letters from fans(?) about it because she's more cheery now.
Her Easy Cheese Danish with lemon zest that she made the other day sounded so good, I think I will try that. I've never tried any of her recipes yet, but that one I may try for an easy dessert to share.

To the OP: Well I would never watch John and Kate Plus Eight. It's for morons.

Before criticizing Ina about pronunciation, perhaps you should clean up your grammar mistakes. You write in run-ons. It should be My fellow Greeks and I, not me and my fellow Greeks. My grandparents were German and British, but they had international neighbors, so we cooked foods from many cultures, including Greek (spanakopita, dolmades, baklava, etc.). Anyone who knows anything about cooking realizes each family, region, etc. puts a different spin on classic recipes. There isn't just one way to make spanakopita or any other dish. People also pronounce things differently, depending upon their region, country, etc.

Good cooks always do riffs upon classic recipes. Recipes are not written in stone; they can be adapted to suit individual tastes. It's fun to rework the classics. When I taught English Literature and Writing, we often discussed the way each reader "rewrites" classic texts in his/her mind. Humans interact with each other through space and time that way.

Since you wrote your rant, butter has been rehabilitated, so Ina's food isn't as unhealthy as you might think.
