Here is my list, in order (it was a close, they were all excellent stories, but there has to be a #1, a #5 and in between. OK, I actually think Arden could have had a little more character development into why she was so f'ked up. But 1-4 were very close).

1) The Mother
2) The Sister
3) The Wife
4) The Dead Girl
5) The Stranger

There's a little part in The Sister act when she's riding Derek in bed and has her eyes closed just moving, moving, moving, and he says "Hey" and when she opens her eyes and looks down at him he says "Hi."

I thought that spoke more volumes about what she was going through than any other scene during that act.

I agree wholly. It was a very telling, powerful moment.

I think you'd appreciate the Julianne Moore Film Blindness, which I saw last night. Another powerful film.

The Dead Girl because Brittany Murphy gives the performance of a life time!! :D

Mine was "The Sister". It was sad to see how Leah was being affected by her zealot parents hopes that their other daughter was still alive and how to she was forced to dwell in the past for so long.

I wasn't keen on the first act (although I love Toni Collette). My fave was Britney Murphy's followed by Rose Byrne's segment. 3rd, I'd pick Mary Beth Hurt's segment, then Marcia Gay Harden's. Great movie though with wonderful acting by everyone.............. still miss Britney (RIP).

The Mother and The Stranger were my favorite.

For me it was clear that The Mother was by far the most powerful segment. Marcia Gay Harden was amazing. Definitely was moved to tears during the scene when she inspects the hotel room and when the prostitute first tells her why her daughter ran away and she carefully sits on the toilet and cries. So powerful. The whole segment was heart wrenching. Almost too much so at first. But the connection with her prostitute friend actually worked (could have easily been forced and hoaky) and connecting with her grandaughter was well done as well.
