So the serial killer was never caught?

The ending was very incomplete and left me wanting for more, plus the wife of the serial killer should have either gave in the evidence or done something about her monster of a husband! Burning the evidence shouldn't have been one of the options! 

Anyhow, great performance by the beloved Brittany Murphy. RIP Brittany.

Unfortunately that's life. Many murder cases go unsolved. And how many go unsolved when someone the killer knows willingly protects them by destroying the one or two pieces of evidence that could lock the killer away for good and bring closure to their victim(s) family(ies)?
