US release?

Does anyone have any idea when we'll be able to see this in the US - on TV or on video or in a theater somewhere?

Did anyone see it at the Toronto Film Festival in April?

reply

it has not been released and probably wont be for awhile and it did not debut at the toronto film festival either

reply

Yeah. IMDB said it premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, but that's wrong. It was actually the Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival for Children.

I doubt it'll be released in the US. It's a CBC Canadian movie, they rarely get play in the States.

Just aired tonight... so, if you live in a border town, you might have been able to catch it.

Since it was created in Canada, with Canadian Writers and Producers, it should premier in Canada first or at least a Canadian Station. It is all of the paperwork and well, their economy suffers some in the Entertainment World, unfortunately. It isn't that good things don't come from Canada, it is that it seems to have to appeal to a large Canadian Audience before it ventures South of the Canadian Border. This is too bad though because they don't have as big a Market as we do here in the States.

This show and potential series though has a really good chance of being picked up here in the States. It was mentioned that it did so/so in Canada. Yet so many are still buying , "Hockey Night" and how old is that Movie? I like it. I enjoy Historically based shows, so I am sure, with the cast "Booky" has, I will like it too.

Our programing has gotten so confusing and for the same reason Canada is limited in some respects, so too are we Americans deprived of shows we actually enjoy more, due to the cost of making them.

The tough part will be that the Production Crew will have to at least attempt at gaining a reasonable fee for their efforts in making it. It could also be under contract with CBC. This means it can't be shown here in the States, without their approval or kick backs. That is reasonable to most extents. The worse part though is very few CBC productions go to Video and that is very bad business. Well, at least until CBC and CTV figure out how to get their Networks carried by Major Cable or Dish providers. I hope in the future something changes so that we can see more from Canada. I would think it would only help promote more of the good work being accomplished up there. That can't be bad for their economy?
