Delightful !

The Baker was a totally delightful movie. Listed as a dark comedy, I found it to be one of the most enjoyable I've seen in ages. Damian Lewis is just as convincing in a comedic role as he is as a hero (I'm thinking Band of Brothers, Warriors).. or even as a villain (Stormbreaker and a sort of baddie in Colditz). It's hard to believe he is the same fellow that portrayed the haunted William Keane in Keane a few years ago. The supporting cast members particularly Kate Ashfield, were matched perfectly to the story line and script. I look forward to more from the pen and the directing skills of Gareth Lewis and would certainly not mind if he gave his older brother a part in whatever he does next.

It wasn't that dark to me actually, but still refreshing to me. In fact it was the funniest comedy I've seen in a very long time.

I just finished watching it. I laughed through most of it. I loved it! I loved the characters, those wacky village people that can be seen in some British comedies and I couldn't believe there was a gay hitman. That made more than my day.

for another gay hitman, try The Mexican (James Gandolfini)

I think the negative reviewers need to chill out. Sure it was as corny as hell but it was meant to be one of those quirky British comedies that's part oddball and part great fun. Just go along for the ride and enjoy it as it's meant to be. I loved the the scene alongside the closing credits with the gay hitman living with the Tulip guy.

I'm sure some people expect every movie to be as deep as War and Peace and analyse the crap out of it.

I missed that scene, darn!!! I did miss the beginning of this movie but loved it as it was easy to pick up. It was entirely delightful with all the quirkiness going on in it. I must see it from the start.

By now you probably all know that Damian Lewis is a household name in the states with his award winning performance in the Showtime series Homeland, but I have always enjoyed him as I watch a lot of British movies and shows.

Wonder what has happened to his brother who wrote and directed this. He did a great job.
