What Was the 'Misunderstanding' When She Spied Them At The Fountain?

He raised his hand. He wouldn't let her leave? He ordered her to disrobe and jump in the water for his amusement?

That's it exactly. Briony thought he had some kind of nefarious control over her.

Wanted to make sure. Fascinating story.

Even if the note hadn't been delivered (the wrong note), the charge of his raping Lola would probably still have gone down, with just the two incidents then; the fountain and the library.

I love that I watched this thing with no idea what was going on or what to expect.

I, too. I love going into a movie completely uninformed about it.

Plus, the production values were breathtaking. I could have lived in that mansion with the illuminating sunlight forever.

He raised his hand so she wouldn't step on the broken porcelain shards that were at her feet.

In the book Briony has no idea what to think of it. She believes she is watching something "adult" but she doesn't know what. She can't figure out why her sister would disrobe, or what Robbie might have had to do with it. She is not yet suspicious of Robbie, but this is the event that makes her watch them more closely - followed of course by the letter and the library sex.
