One little important detail

I noticed a really quick but revealing detail when I watched this again. In the scene where Briony was talking to her nurse friend (immediately after being grilled about the book she was writing) and the friend asks her if she thought the city would be flattened in the war. Briony quickly and confidently says "No" but then softly says "I don't know..."

I thought this was significant in showing an important albeit tiny transformation from being certain in her words to quickly correcting herself, conceding that she didn't actually know.

I know a lot of people hate Briony on this board and I get it. But she does show moments of redemption and she had to live with a mistake she made as a 13 year old for the rest of her life. She had no idea of the reprocusions her
actions would have.
