Why is Amy still living on the property?

Matt and Amy have been "separated' for almost 2 years now and are in the process of getting a divorce. Why is Amy still living in the big house on the property? I believe Matt's family owns the property so it should be Amy that moves away.

Matt and Amy both own the farm jointly. In the episode where they purchased the adjoining property they used for hosting weddings, it showed Amy and Matt signing papers.

I believe they bought the farm when they got married and not from his family. When two people split is it common for the wife to leave the home? Not likely. I believe that's between them not john q public. What is with you people. So you don't like Amy, I can't stand cry baby Matt, but what they do is their business and not mine. Why would he want the big house for, he would have to hire a maid to keep it clean. He lives in the double wide which i'm sure he and Amy decided between themselves what they were doing and will do if they divorce.

One of them needs to move out and away or they will never move on from each other, if they BOTH continue to live on the property like they are.
If Amy gets a boyfriend, how is Matt going to feel living alone in the guesthouse? It's not normal for Amy and Matt to continue to both stay on the property now that they are separated and getting a divorce.

Its not like he is in the guest house in the backyard. The home he is on is acres away from the house. It is on the land they purchased for the weddings. They may as well be living on two different properties (up until a few years ago it was).

The point I am trying to make is why are they both living on the same property if they separated and getting divorced?

when you put your stuff out there on tv for all to watch...it kind of becomes our problems too. Everyone gets invested.

Jesus! Really! Get over it. Who even cares, not to mention it's none of ur business.

I just wasn't made for these times. (Brian Wilson)

If they didn't want any of this to be our business then they shouldn't have agreed to parade their everyday lives on national tv. Just saying.

Its a giant farm, they have two separate houses. It's not like living together. The reality is simple: one of them would have to buy the other one out. Or they would have to sell the farm and split the profits. They both want the business and want it for their kids. And neither could afford to buy the other out.

Besides Matt basically does live on another farm. His little house is on the neighboring farm they bought when they started the weding business.

That's actually not true. Different Strokes for Different Folks. Growing up, I knew a boy whose parents were divorced, and both parents not only remained in the same house, but had new spouses, and were raising their own families. So, it may not be for everyone, but for some people, they make things work. Is it odd? Sure, but that's what they chose to do.

Although it appears that the property belongs to both of them equally, it is a bit odd for them both to be living there. That may change now that they are in the process of a divorce. I guess we will have to see!

I am not surprised at all to see their marriage fail, but it is still so sad.

I was wondering why she is still in the house as well. Especially since she was complaining so much about how big the house seems now that everyone is out.

In last nights episode when she started the makeover of the bedrooms, I thought she might turn the house in a B & B. I know she loves to cook but she's certainly not a good housekeeper. She's said she wants to travel so I could see her going on extended vacations for a while.

Amy is one unhappy woman. Matt, you are better off divorced from her.

Not sure exactly which episode - the one when Jacob left - Amy was cleaning out the garage. I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up selling her half of the property to Matt in the divorce settlement, and buys her own place in the city. The farm situation was Matt's idea in the first place; Amy wanted to be in town. It will take time to sort all that out, and there is no rush at this point.

The scene with Amy cleaning the garage made me laugh. She doesn't even tidy up or clean the house and she's supposed to be cleaning the garage??

I think they were just separated and I am sure that during that time, it was much less expensive for them to both stay there. They also said on the show that they were trying to keep things as normal as possible until after the weddings...

I'd start a methadone clinic close to her part of property, unlicensed and advertised on craigslist of course.
